Madeline Murguia Rice, Ph.D., Associate Research Professor of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, joined the Biostatistics Center in June 2002. She completed her Ph.D. in 1999 in Epidemiology at the University of Washington in Seattle where she gained experience in the conduct of prospective community-based cohort studies and the epidemiology of aging. She was Principal Investigator of the Data Coordinating Center for the NHLBI-sponsored Prevention Of Events With Angiotensin Coverting Enzyme Inhibition (PEACE) trial. She is currently Co-Investigator of the Eunice Kennedy Shriver NICHD Maternal Fetal Medicine Units Network Data Coordinating Center. Dr. Rice has served on a Data and Safety Monitoring Committee for a NHLBI-funded multi-center international trial and the NHLBI Clinical Trials Review Committee study section. She regularly serves as a reviewer for NIH grant reviews, scientific journals and meeting abstracts, and participates in obstetrics-related working groups aimed at standardizing clinical obstetric data definitions and core outcomes. Dr. Rice also participates in the teaching and advising of the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics in the Milken Institute School of Public Health.
