Sharon Edelstein, ScM, Lead Research Scientist, joined the Biostatistics Center in October 1994. She is currently the Principal Investigator of the Coordinating Center for the NIDDK-sponsored trial Optimizing Recovery and Preservation of Endogenous insulin Secretion (RISE), and its three ancillary studies, and Co-Investigator and National Project Coordinator of the NIDDK-sponsored Diabetes Prevention Program Outcomes Study (DPPOS) Coordinating Center. In these projects, Ms. Edelstein has been involved in all aspects including study design, monitoring, data analyses, manuscript preparation, DSMB reporting, and data archival. She was also a co-investigator Studies to Treat Or Prevent Pediatric Type 2 Diabetes (STOPP-T2D) studies. Prior to joining the Biostatistics Center, she worked at the University of California, San Diego, as the statistician on the Rancho Bernardo Study. Ms. Edelstein serves as a grant reviewer for PCORI and NIDDK, and is a member of the Data Safety and Monitoring Board for the Intervening in Diabetes with Healthy Eating, Activity and Linkages to Healthcare (The I-D Health Study). Ms. Edelstein is a co-author of over 90 papers presenting analyses and conclusions of studies with which she has been involved.
