RANDOMIZED TRIAL TO STUDY TAMSULOSIN FOR UROLITHIASIS IN THE EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT (STONE)

The Biostatistics Center served as the Data Coordinating Center for the study of Randomized Trial To Study Tamsulosin For Urolithiasis In The Emergency Department (STONE), the multi-center continuation of the pilot study by the same name. This NIDDK funded study is being conducted by three participating Departments of Emergency Medicine: The George Washington University Hospital continues as the lead institution along with the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, and the Hospital of The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, and the Hospital of The University of Pennsylvania. STONE is a placebo-controlled two-armed trial to determine the effects of tamsulosin on the proportion of patients passing a kidney stone. Funded by the National Institutes of Health National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) grant # NIH U01 DK096037-01 (2012-2016).)
