W. Greenhouse, formerly of the National Institutes of
Health and Professor Emeritus at the George Washington
University, died on September 29, 2000 at the age of 82. He
had fought valiantly against cancer for a year. He is survived
by his four children, their spouses, and 11 grandchildren. His
beloved wife Selma had preceded him in 1996.
