Perspectives on the Biostatistical Sciences:
A Symposium in Memory of Samuel W. Greenhouse

n June 11, 2001, a scientific meeting will be held celebrating the career and
professional accomplishments of Samuel W. Greenhouse. Sam's affiliations at the
George Washington University and the National Institutes of Health spanned over
50 years during which he had a profound influence on statistical practice. Jointly
sponsored by the GWU Biostatistics Center, the National Institutes of Health, and
the Washington Statistical Society, the program will include sessions concentrating
on Sam's contributions to statistical theory, epidemiologic methods, the theory and
practice of clinical trials, and collaborations in the biomedical and behavioral
sciences. Sessions will be an integrated mix of reflections of Sam's work and
current topics in the biostatistical sciences.
Attendance will be limited, and advance registration is required. A cocktail
hour and dinner with speakers the proceeding evening, June 10, will be available
by separate ticket.
